Pencil Power - Introduction

The pencil is a powerful tool. So simple in nature and easy to use, so readily available. It allows ideas to happen almost instantly. It is a natural extension of the hand or mind for that matter. 

I carry a pencil everywhere I go. I scribble on whatever is in reach when the thought comes. I've been told not to save, hoard, and store all of this genius. So in the freedom of free play I invite you to the yard for a lil show n' tell.     -Kip Williams

Hatch show print

Went to Nashville, TN snagged this limited edition off the press during my VIP tour of Hatch Show Print. What an honor to smell the ink, sniff sniff.

I want to be an Illustrator when I grow up.

My dream used to be a pro athlete, then an artist, once it was a pastor. I came across this book my parents purchased for me when I was about 5 or 6. I remember reading it and dreaming of being an illustrator. I hope you enjoy "reading" it as well. I have now passed it on to my youngest daughter who also has the gift of dreaming in pencil.

Top 5 - Poster Collection

Howdy doody! Here are the top five in my poster collection. Mind you some of my faves were destroyed in the flood of our Florida home. big bummer.

Aaron Draplin

This one was acquired at an AIGA event in Jax, FL. Where Aaron spoke. Great guy, even better design. This poster is a collection of his work, it even comes with a handy dandy guide to what everything is. Great color and what a cool way to see your work all in one place.

Charles S. Anderson

Commemorative poster done for the final Seinfeld episode. This was commissioned by French Paper. The black ink (thermography) is used very well on top of this collage.  It was picked up at a Mac Paper show in Orlando.

Laurie DeMartino

Mac Paper show in Orlando gave this one out, and of course I had to have it. The illustration was made with seeds and vegetables. I like the use of natural resources for a medium.

Hatch Show Print

Picked this one up on a trip to Nashville, TN for the AdFed National Conference. Went on a VIP three hour tour of Hatch with Jim Sherraden, what an exciting time. (wipes drool)

Sean gave a lecture in Orlando for AIGA on Fear in Design, great talk by the way. Picked this one up there and it's a keeper! Printed by Lure (go Jeff Matz's kick butt team).

New additions to the poster family

Any excuse to get more posters in my collection... I recently attended an AIGA event held in Alpharetta, GA at the HP office. Snagged these as "samples" I even got extras as gifts for my kids and wife. I have to have a reason to bring them in the house you know.
